Dear friends,
I got more intentional about starting a mailing list two months ago. I have a free eBook to share with aspiring writers, Compendium of Writing Prompts – it’s coming out soon. Also, I’d like to share the knowledge I have acquired when it comes to writing, editing, the journey of becoming a self-published author and the other aspects of a writer’s life.
Let’s just say I’d like to give back to the world. I see a lot of mistakes new writers make and I believe these newsletters will help to make your journey smoother. Not all of us have to walk through thorns and thistles to get our books published or even own a voice in the world. Whether you are a hobby writer, beta reader or you are into professional writing and editing, these letters are for you.
When I was sending out the link to these newsletters on WhatsApp, I saw contacts of writers who have achieved more than I have in the literary world. What do I have to say that they don’t know already? Do I have anything worthwhile to give them? But on the other hand, I thought to myself that it won’t harm to send out an invite. Who knows, they might learn one or two things and we might be able to bond over these letters.
To the aspiring writer, who is getting ready to join the throng of world writers; fasten your seatbelts, we are about to go on a journey of learning and fun.
About one week ago, I wondered if I was doing anything right? I was thinking of shutting down my blog and start writing professional articles. I mean “10 ways to live above your problems” and so on. I am not discouraging you if that is your forte but it is not for me. I discovered in the course of the week following that I was able bring it all together. Tell a story you can relate to, sell a book and even get people to patronise my editing business. As creatives, we are all different and you need to find out what works for you regardless of what everyone says works.
These letters will inspire you in the right direction. You may not do exactly what am doing right now. You may or may not write newsletters that are these conversational, but you will find what works for you. Once you do just that I would be happy.
If you've already subscribed, THANK YOU. It means the world to me. Subscribing to the newsletter is free and incredibly simple.
You can email me at bookyglover@gmail.com or find me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter @bookyglover. I reply my messages within 12 hours.
Visit my blog at bookyglover.wordpress.com/ there you can find a lot of poetry, short stories and opinion articles. I also run a page on Facebook, Persistent Writers where writers are encouraged to write every day.
The first real “issue” comes up 7th July. In the meantime, if you haven't invited your friends here's a chance to do so. Share this with them so they can subscribe.
All my love,
Booky
